Fundraising
Tips & Tricks!
By October 27th, all mentors are required to raise $60. Take a look at the list below for some ideas as to how you can fundraise!
Some Ideas
Asking Your Friends and Family:
In years past, mentors have found fundraising success in contacting their close family and friends for support. We know that sometimes, this can feel a little daunting so SWAB prepared some resources to help!
Example Text:
Hi _____! This year I am participating in an organization called Shop With a Bulldawg (SWAB), a nonprofit based at UGA which takes elementary school children (mentees) from Athens-Clarke County schools holiday shopping on an annual Event Day. As a mentor, a friend and I will be spending a day with a mentee as we shop, wrap gifts, and enjoy fun activities! With money raised by UGA students, SWAB is able to host this amazing event every year. I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider donating to my own fundraiser at this link:
The money I raise will directly go towards buying a child’s gifts and covering costs for the event. Thank you so much for your support - if you would like to learn more about SWAB as an organization, visit this website: https://www.swabuga.org/
Sell Some Unused Things:
This can be old textbooks, unworn clothes, dorm stuff, etc.
Post on your socials, but also consider online platforms like Depop or thrift stores (Plato’s Closet, Uptown Cheapskate, etc.) for clothes
Social Media Pushes:
This year we want to send out and implement more social media graphics to help mentors fundraise
Make sure you include a link to your Mighty Cause page, you'll need that to receive donations

Facebook Posts:
I know many of us don’t have one but ask your parents or, just make one! Facebook is super useful for reaching people passionate about community support.
Ask anyone close to you (parents/aunts) to post in any groups they are a part of too!
Give Rides:
Offering people rides to class or downtown is also a great way to make some money!
Selling Handcrafted Items:
If you have a knack for crafting, this is a perfect way to use your skills!
Riza likes making earrings and sold them for another fundraiser to people in her neighborhood in the past and made $50.
Besides jewelry, some other ideas of things you can sell are crocheted items, paintings, and other artwork.
